There is no charge for clean wood or recycling, but you will require an access card which can be picked-up at the office.

For the disposal of household/domestic garbage you will require a punch card, which has a fee charge of $5.00 per punch with 10 punches per card; which can be purchased at the office only.

Both landfills are no longer accepting cold ashes from the burning barrels, construction and demolition material, metal, e-waste, tires, manure, grain, petroleum wastes, slaughter house wastes, dead animals and liquid domestic wastes shall not be deposited in the landfill sites.

Landfill Recycle Bin

The R.M. has established a closure policy that states both landfills will be closed on any day where the temperature is -40°C or -44°C with windchill. The landfills will also be closed during all statutory holidays.

Pest Control

The R.M. of Swift Current currently does not have a Pest Control Officer. A variety of mouse and rat poison is available for purchase at the R.M. Office. Please see our Sale & Rental items under the Administration section for a complete price list of available poison.

Weed Control

Noxious Weeds
Jim McDowell, the R.M. of Swift Current’s Weed Inspector, can help you identify noxious weeds and answer any questions you may have. Please call the RM office for any questions you may have regarding noxious weeds.

Stray Animals

The Stray Animals Act requires owners to prevent animals from being at large. The fencing requirements for keeping cattle, horses, wild boar and other animal species are described in the Regulations of this Act. This Act is enforced by the R.C.M.P.

The R.M. of Swift Current each year appoints a Poundkeeper that is situated in the R.M. When a stray animal is found and the property does not have proper facilities to house the animal, it is transported to the Poundkeeper. If the property does have the proper facilities and the owner is willing, the R.M. Administrator appoints the owner a temporary poundkeeper.

If you encounter a stray animal, it is imperative that you contact the Municipal Office immediately so that the proper procedures can be set in motion.
