Please be advised that the next regular meeting of Council for the R.M. of Swift Current No. 137 will be held on Wednesday, June 10th, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in the municipal council chambers.
Strychnine Update
– RM of Swift Current No.137The RM has opted in to distribute styrchnine for Richardson’s ground squirrel control under the new Emergency Use Registration.
Product is NOT available yet – it is set to be coming for the late-summer 2026 application window (July 15-Sept 1). But there are things you can start doing now so you’re ready when it arrives:
If you have land in more than one participating RM, you’ll need to pick ONE eligible RM to purchase fromComplete the mandatory 90 minutes online training through SARM (sarm.ca/strychnine-stewardship-training)- required before purchase. After completion it takes up to 2 days to be on list for the municipality to view.Start putting together your treatment plan: legal land description, estimated acres, integrated pest management strategies you’ve used in the last 24 months.
